Hey there, thanks for stopping by! I’m Erica Lubetkin, nice to meet you. Here is some information about me!

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of New York. I’m also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors.

I work with adolescents, young adults, and family members who are experiencing mental health issues, with a specialty in addiction. In addition I have an extensive background facilitating group therapy. My goal is to help my clients develop healthier coping skills and encourage my clients to gain insight and understanding of the underlying cause of their presenting problem. I have an extensive background working with the substance use population as well as their families.

Together we can work to create an individualized path that works best for you. In our sessions, I will help you focus on what can change in the present and plan for the future to improve quality of life. Sometimes, when appropriate, we will explore past experiences, patterns of behavior, and family history to help facilitate a change in meaning so you can move forward in the here and now.

Throughout my time in graduate school, I worked at the Center for Motivation and Change, an outpatient rehab here in New York City, and it was there that I developed a deep passion for working with individuals struggling with substance use as well as their loved ones. I then completed a clinical internship at another outpatient rehab, Inter-Care, where I worked in the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Following graduate school I began working for Hazelden Betty Ford as an Addiction Practitioner in the Evening Intensive Outpatient Program. At Hazelden I ran Process Groups 4 nights per week, provided my group members individual therapy, and presented psychoeducational workshops as a part of IOP.

Over the years, I have been trained in therapeutic techniques and I pull elements from both the Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioral philosophies, in order to provide deep, yet practical direction. I see myself as multi-theoretical, grounded in evidenced based practice, as I work to understand which modality is in the best interest of the client. I tend to take a holistic approach with clients, as I feel it is important to address the interconnectedness of one’s body and mind. I am also trained in Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) which is an approach for family members and loved ones of those struggling with addiction.
