Biofeedback

Biofeedback uses computerized technology to help you learn to control or manage your stress responses. Sensors are used to measure physical processes with the purpose of “feeding back” the information to an individual in order to control these processes.

The Treatment

Biofeedback is a training process that is aimed at changing body responses that can lead to pain, medical conditions and poor health. It uses computerized equipment that monitors various body activity such as muscle tension, blood vessel constriction, hear rate, breathing and more and ‘feeds back’ this information on a computer monitor for you to see.

With this information and guidance from a therapist, you can learn to make the changes that control body reactivity and produce healthier responses.

This healthy functioning pattern then becomes a new automatic, conditioned response that is integrated into daily life diminishing pain and headache and improving overall health and well-being.

What It Does

Your sessions and treatment plan are individualized based on an initial health history and assessment and ongoing evaluation of what strategies and treatment would best assist you. Self-regulation strategies and therapeutic skills including behavioral and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) may be incorporated into your sessions.

Your home practice, symptoms, and experiences are discussed each week so that sessions can be designed to best help you.
